Are you interested in to oriental dance, whether professionally or just for fun? Measure your talent and diligence with others at the Oriental Dance Competition within Orient Connection festival

Not only can you show what you’re made of, but you can also be the winner of an entire category, win fabulous prizes and dance at the Galashow!

Winners of the Orient Connection festival competition receive valuable prizes from our partners—such as oriental dance accessories, costumes, jewelry, practice wear, and other beautiful and exciting rewards.

Eglal, Melissa Gamal, Jamilah, Nikola Zhangová, and other inspiring dancers and instructors.

At the competition, you will receive valuable feedback from a professional jury, which can significantly help you move forward. You can request feedback either after the competition or directly during the competition.

Winners of the P – Professional categories will be given the opportunity to teach at the Orient Connection Festival in 2027.

P – Professionals (18–45 years)

Professionals: The professional category is intended for dancers who teach oriental dance professionally or regularly, perform at commercial events, festivals, and gala shows, have long-term dance experience, or choose to compete in the Professional category themselves. Placement in the Professional category is entirely the responsibility of the competitor.

Festival Orient connection

Important Information

General Competition Rules

    • One entry per category: You may only perform once within a single category.
    • Age determination: The age category is determined by the competitor’s age on the day of the competition.
    • Minimum participants: A minimum of 3 competitors/formations is required to open a category.
    • Merging categories: The organizer reserves the right to merge categories in the event of a low number of entries.
    • Capacity limits: Registration may close early if capacity is reached.
    • Minor registration: Categories for CHILDREN, JUNIORS, and GROUPS under 18 must be registered by a legal guardian or a group leader over the age of 18.

    Awards and Winners’ Performances

    Winners of adult categories receive:

    • The opportunity to perform at the Orient Connection Festival Gala Show.
    • The opportunity to become part of the official festival program.

    Winners of the Professional category also receive:

    • The opportunity to teach at the Orient Connection Festival in 2027.
    • A performance at the Gala Show.
    • Media support from the festival.

    Registration of dancers for festival workshops is a condition for participation in the competition.

    • Soloists: minimum of 1 workshop.
    • Groups: each group member minimum of 1 workshop.
    • This condition does not apply to children’s categories, but children are welcome at the workshops.

    Time limit

    A maximum track length of 3 minutes will be strictly enforced

    Music

    Every competitor is required to have backup music on a flash drive.

    How to register for the competition

    Electronic application

      • Fill out the electronic application below →
      • If you are competing in multiple categories, fill everything out in one order.
      • The DUO and GROUP categories are now entered in the order as follows: 1 performance = 1 pc!
      • The final price will be displayed automatically after selecting the categories.

      Payment of the entry fee

      • The entry fee must be paid no later than 14 days from submitting the application.
      • The application is valid only upon timely payment of the entry fee and submission of the required materials.
      • In case of non-participation, the entry fee is not refunded.

      Supplementary form

      After the application is received, you will receive an e-mail with a supplementary form in which you will state:

      • name of the dancer / name of the group,
      • competition category,
      • method of starting to the music (OFF STAGE / ON STAGE),
      • competition track in MP3 format.
        File name: NAME_OF_COMPETITOR_OR_GROUP_CATEGORY.mp3

      Applications without music, in the wrong format, or sent after the deadline will not be accepted.

      Entry fee

      Individuals

      • SOLO children and juniors: 400 CZK
      • SOLO adults: 500 CZK
      • SOLO Professionals: 600 CZK

      Groups

      • DUO: 600 CZK
      • GROUPS 3 and more people: 900 CZK

      ATTENTION CHANGE!!

      The entry fee for DUO and GROUP is paid per performance, not for each member as in previous years of the festival!

      Jury feedback

      The competition includes the possibility of obtaining written feedback from the jury, which provides professional and constructive feedback focused on:

      • technique and execution of movement,
      • musicality and work with music,
      • stylistic purity and interpretation,
      • overall stage performance.

      Prizes

      Feedback serves as support for further dance development and inspiration for further work. At the same time, competitors compete for valuable prizes donated by the festival partners and the organizer.

      Awards may include:

      • dance and festival prizes,
      • vouchers for workshops and lessons,
      • gifts and products from festival partners.

      Photo and video

      All PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS taken during your performance will be available and downloadable on the Orient Connection FB page or on the eglal.cz website in the form of a link.
